The following boxes are described below: Ø Bezier-PARSEC parameterization Ø Initial blade angle and spacing |
Bezier-PARSEC parameterization- Select “PARSEC parameters…” for BP 3434 or 3424 parameterization of airfoils - Select “BP3333 parameters…” for BP 3333 parameterization of airfoils - Thickness and Camber curve parameters are described in chapter 3. All angles are in radians. rle is actually |rle| - i.e. leading edge radius is defined to be positive. - Initial values: The set of initial values defines one vector in the initial population. This can be used to ensure that at least one member of the initial population is a valid airfoil. - Optimize parameter?: Any of the BP parameters can be held constant throughout optimization. Simply deselect its “yes” box. - Lower and Upper bounds: For a given vector in the initial population, each parameter value is a random number chosen between the upper and lower bound entered. - The initial population shown here was used for all inverse design results reported in the thesis. Bezier parameterization- Select “Bezier control points…” for Bezier parameterization of airfoils - Type in filenames consisting of the initial Bezier parameters. These parameters define one vector b in the initial population. For any other vector x in the initial population, parameter xi is chosen randomly from within (xi –0.02, xi +0.07) - Either the camber or thickness curve can be held constant throughout optimization. Simply deselect the appropriate box. - The nitial population determined by the files “8ptCamb.r” and “8ptThic.r” was used for all results reported in the thesis Blade resolution- Defines the maximum panel length used for generating data points - Reset to 0.04 every time the program is run. (DE has no “memory” for this variable.) - Thesis results reported for the 112o-cambered blade all use a maximum panel length of 0.03. Otherwise, results were for 0.04. Initial blade angle and spacing- Only applicable for pressure distribution targets. - Initial pitch/chord ratio and Initial stagger angle define the blade spacing used for the one predefined initial blade. - Pitch/chord ratios in the initial population are chosen at random from within (0.1, 0.2). -
Stagger angle is measured in degrees. Initial population is
chosen at random from within |
